Interior and exterior painting in Spring Hill
A painting project can be a few rooms, a new cabinet finish or a full exterior repaint. Start with the result you want. Then list the surfaces to include in the price. You can request a quote before choosing every color or measuring the whole house.
Spring Hill includes different kinds of homes and living arrangements. The 2024 Maury County hazard plan describes new subdivisions and multifamily complexes in the city. That does not tell a painter your home’s age or what is on its walls. Describe your own property. Will you stay there during the work, is it empty before a move, or is it a rental between tenants?
For an occupied house, say which rooms need to stay usable. For a vacant property, give the expected possession date rather than assuming work can begin before you have access. Our interior painting guide explains how to separate walls, ceilings and woodwork.

Room repaint, cabinet finish or a larger refresh?
A room repaint and a cabinet refinish need separate descriptions even when both are part of a kitchen refresh. Ask for separate prices. You can then choose the room painting even if the cabinets need more checks or cost more than you want to spend.
| Part of the project | Describe for the estimate | Keep separate |
|---|---|---|
| Walls and ceilings | Rooms, colors being changed and visible repairs | Doors, baseboards and cabinets unless included |
| Doors and trim | Which doors, frames, faces and woodwork | New hardware or replacement pieces |
| Cabinets | Doors, drawer fronts, boxes and finish you want | Layout changes or damaged cabinet replacement |
| Exterior | Siding, trim and other surfaces to be coated | Roof, deck or fence work unless requested |
This is a way to organize choices, not a requirement to send a long specification. If you are unsure whether existing cabinet doors are suitable, ask for that decision to be part of the visit. See cabinet painting and refinishing for the questions that matter before committing to a finish.
Painting permits within Spring Hill city limits
The Spring Hill Building Codes FAQ lists ordinary painting and similar finish work as not requiring a building permit. The same FAQ has separate rules for building work and for changes to electrical, gas, heating or plumbing systems. Replacing a damaged structural part does not become permit-free just because it is in a painting quote.
The city boundary also matters. Maury County’s inspection office excludes Spring Hill, Columbia and Mount Pleasant from its inspection jurisdiction. A home can be in Maury County and still use Spring Hill’s city process.
A permit exemption does not settle an HOA color request or establish a contractor’s credentials. If your project includes added repairs, ask what approval applies to that exact work. Our painting permits guide keeps these checks separate.
Exterior preparation after leaks or wet weather
Tell the painter about known leaks, repeat stains or a wall that looks wet. Explain when you noticed the issue and whether the cause has been addressed. Those observations are more useful than asking for a particular primer before anyone has assessed the surface.
First agree what needs checking and who will check it. Then settle the painting work that can follow. Ask the quote to show any repair cost that is still an estimate. A photograph can help show the location, but it cannot confirm that hidden material is sound or ready to coat.
Use the water-stain guide when a leak is part of the story. For an ordinary exterior refresh, the painter should still explain the preparation and suitable work window.

Compare quotes for the same Spring Hill project
Compare the same requested work before comparing totals. One price may cover walls only while another includes ceilings, trim and repairs. The cost guide explains those differences without treating a whole-home label as a fixed size.
Check which rooms and surfaces are included, what will be protected or moved, how repairs will be handled and what finish is proposed. If you want to spend less, ask for a price on fewer rooms or surfaces. Do not leave it unclear which work has been dropped.
A preferred date is not yet an agreed start date. Mention a move, furniture delivery or other deadline, then ask whether the proposed schedule is practical. The quote should make clear what has been agreed.
Request a painting quote for your address
Send your Spring Hill location, callback number and a short description of the painting you have in mind. The area covered here includes the Maury County side of the city. If the county boundary is unclear, include the location and let that be checked during follow-up.
Columbia Painting Quotes is an inquiry and referral website; the painting work is arranged with an independent provider. You can ask for a discussion while colors, measurements or the final scope are still undecided.
